WordPress has some time ago added another feature which I think has definite possibilities for use. By taking a couple of quick easy steps, any WordPress blogger can activate the post by phone feature on his or her blog.
Go to your global dashboard. Basically, look toward the upper left of the screen. You’ll see a tab at the top of the left column that reads “Dashboard”. If you rest your cursor over “Dashboard”, you’ll see several options appear. Choose “My Blogs”. You’ll then be brought to a page that lists all your blogs, with several column headers. Look over to “Post By Voice”, over on the right side. Under that header, on the row for each blog, you’ll see a button that reads “Enable”. Click that button, and then a phone number will appear in its place, along with a numerical code you’ll need to enter.
Once you’ve done that, you’re set! All you need to do now is go to any phone, dial the number, listen to the voice prompts, and then when you’re directed to speak, begin talking about whatever you wish. I believe you have up to an hour recording time. When you’re done, just hang up. The audio will almost instantly be posted, with a post title of Audio Post, though you can go into Edit and change the name of the post, if you wish. Oh, and word of advice: When you are done with whatever you wish to say, make sure you press the # button on your phone rather than just hanging up. Either way will end the recording, but if you just hang up, everyone will hear the sound of your phone going back onto the receiver. Obviously, if you’re using a cell phone, that may not apply.
Below is an audio post I’ve made so everyone can see what it looks like and how it works. You’ll hear my voice as I read “Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening”, a poem by Robert Frost that happens to be one of my favorite poems. Right below these words you’ll see a button with the ‘play’ symbol. Just click the button and you can listen to the marvelous quality of my voice. 😀
